About Professor Layton and Pandora's Box

Professor Layton and Pandoras Box is the sequel to the hit Nintendo DS game Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Pandoras Box features a new adventure for Layton and his apprentice Luke. The duo must solve the mystery behind the death of Professor Layton's mentor Dr. Schrader.

The game begins with Professor Layton and Luke traveling to visit Dr. Schrader who has told Layton about a mysterious box. It is rumoured that anyone who opens the Elysian box is killed. They arrive at Dr. Schrader's home to find him dead and the box missing.

The game play of Pandoras Box is the same as Curious Village. You explore areas looking for puzzles to solve that will get your closer to solving the mystery. There are over 150 puzzles that progressively get harder the further you explore of the game. You will have to solve all new riddles, logic puzzles, and brain-teasers. Using your stylus to randomly tap objects and characters will lead you to puzzles and riddles. Be ready for some serious puzzle solving. Reviews of Pandoras Box claim the first puzzles are harder than the first puzzles in Curious Village. Apparently the developers are counting on players being familiar with the series and did not include easier, beginner puzzles.

Players are treated to a few more cutaway scenes than in Curious Village. Pandoras Box is done in the same animation style as Curious Village. This game seems to be a sequel that is right on target. It provides the same game play without too many additions. Some sequels barely favour the original game. Developers need to stick with what works, and this is exactly what the developers did with Pandoras Box.

Reviews of Professor Layton and Pandoras Box are overall positive. The Professor Layton series is a fun game that many people enjoy. If you like Curious Village, then you should definitely check out Pandoras Box. For those thinking about checking out the Pandoras Box, begin with Curious Village since it is better suited for beginners. Solving puzzles and riddles can be quite enjoyable, but you can benefit from the tutorial-like puzzles that are a part of the original game.
