About Professor Layton and the Lost Future

Professor Layton and the Lost Future is the third installment of the popular Professor Layton franchise. It also will wrap up the storyline but will not be the last Professor Layton game. A future trilogy of games will be prequels to the story. The Professor Layton series are for the Nintendo DS family of handheld consoles.

The premise of Professor Layton and the Lost Future is that Layton and Luke travel to see a demonstration of a time machine. Layton then receives a letter from Luke written ten years in the future. The letter paints a grim future for the city of London. Something obviously has happened that should never have occured. It's up to Professor Layton to set things right.

There are over 165 new puzzles that are weaved into the story. More riddles and logic puzzles are part of the game as well as some new types of brain-teasing puzzles. If a puzzle has you stumped, then you can ask for up to three hints. Then after the third hint, you can use the super hint option that will point you in the right direction. For those with broadband access, you can download new puzzles each week.

The Lost Future includes a significant amount of more animations and voice acting than previous Professor Layton titles. This is welcomed news to fans who want more story content from this series. DS games are not known for their story mode. It is a refreshing change to see that storytelling is a big aspect of the game. The game uses both DS dual screens for story purposes. Puzzles appear on either the touch screen or the top screen. Players will use their stylus to solve puzzles that are on the touch screen. Those puzzles may consist of mazes, sequences, or slide puzzles.

Professor Layton the Lost Future may wrap up the storyline of Layton and Luke but fans will still have the prequels to look forward to. Another three games are planned for the franchise as well as a movie. This fun puzzle adventure game will test your skills and patience. Professor Layton and the Lost Future is rated Everyone 10+.
